Preparing Quarterly Visual Briefs That Stay Consistent
A fixed chart order helps directors compare quarters without relearning your layout every time.
Consistency is a management tool. When page two always shows occupancy and page three always shows lease expiry pressure, directors stop hunting for the measure they care about.
Lock five measures for a year. Changing the set mid-year breaks the ability to see movement.
Use the same colour language for up and down movements. Decorative palettes that change every quarter create false drama.
Keep commentary short: what moved, why you believe it moved, and what operations will do next. Charts carry the weight; prose should not compete.
Archive each pack with the data cut-off date printed on the cover. Future arguments about ‘what we knew then’ become simpler.
